POSITION DESCRIPTION

DUTIES

  • Prepare and file copyright applications with the U.S. Copyright Office
  • Manage U.S. and international trademark prosecution, maintenance, searching, oppositions, cancellations, and enforcement
  • Draft Office Action responses
  • Draft TTAB actions and responses
  • Docket trademarks
  • Prepare and send reporting letters to clients regarding correspondence from USPTO and foreign counsel
  • Assist in preparation and filing of UDRP actions
  • Legalization of documents
  • Recommend, establish, and maintain internal practices and procedures
  • Stay up-to-date on USPTO policies
  • 1,200 hour annual billing requirement.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal Certification preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • Knowledge of U.S. trademark rules and procedure; working knowledge of national laws of other countries; knowledge of Paris Convention and deadlines set therein and familiarity with the Madrid Protocol
  • Experience managing trademark prosecution, including drafting and filing applications, analyzing goods and services descriptions and determining needed evidence to support in use requirements, and preparing substantive responses to office actions
  • Proficient with electronic research tools such as Saegis, USPTO and WIPO databases; and conduct preliminary trademark searches
  • Proficient with USPTO electronic trademark filing systems
  • Proficiency in computerized docketing systems
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to take ownership of trademark docket. 
  • Strong organizational time and deadline management skills along with ability to work confidently, efficiently and independently under pressure and tight deadlines while being detail-oriented and having the ability to organize and prioritize tasks
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information
  • Solid interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Notary helpful
